How the League Works
The Elevate Middle School Golf League is open to public, private, charter, and homeschool students in grades 5–8.
Players compete in five-player teams, with the four lowest scores counting toward the team total.
Schools may enter A, B, and C teams so players can be placed with golfers of similar experience and ability.
Individual participation opportunities may also be available for schools that do not yet have enough players to form a complete team.
Elevate Golf organizes the events and handles the major administrative responsibilities.
Your school’s primary role is to identify a team coordinator, recruit players, collect the required information, and help communicate with families.

Does our school need an existing golf program?
No. Schools can start from scratch. Elevate Golf provides the league structure, schedules, rules, tournament administration, scoring, and customizable resources needed to help organize a team. We will help you set up, find a course, show up at parents meetings or help with whatever you need.
Does the team need to be officially sponsored by the school?
Each school handles approval differently. Some teams operate as school-sponsored programs, while others are organized through a parent group, booster club, community organization, or volunteer coordinator. Schools should review the program with their administration before registering.
How many players are needed to form a team?
A full team consists of five players. The four lowest scores count toward the team total. Schools may enter multiple teams when enough players are available. Schools that do not have five players should still contact Elevate Golf, as individual participation or combined-team options may be available.
Can a school have more than one team?
Yes. Schools may enter A, B, and C teams based on player ability and roster size. They can also have multiple teams at a level. You do not need to have an A team in order to have a B team. This allows both experienced players and developing golfers to compete at an appropriate level.
How are players assigned to A, B, or C teams?
The school’s coach or team coordinator is responsible for placing players based on skill, experience, scoring ability, and pace of play. Team rosters should be ranked from No. 1 through No. 5 before each event. Rosters may be adjusted during the season as players improve.
Do boys and girls compete in the league?
Yes. Boys and girls may compete on the same school team. Individual awards and championship qualification may be separated by division when applicable.
Does the school need to hire a golf coach?
No. A team may be led by a teacher, athletic department representative, parent, volunteer, golf professional, or another approved adult. The coordinator does not need to be a golf expert, but they should be organized, communicate with families, and help players understand expectations.

The regular season includes five Friday competitions in late April and May. Events generally begin around 3:30 p.m. Qualifying teams and individuals advance to the Middle School State Championship in early June. Final dates, locations, and start times are provided before registration opens.
How long are the competitions?
Each competition is 9 holes. The total time depends on the golf course, field size, weather, and pace of play. Families should plan for players to be at the course for approximately three hours.
Where are the events held?
Events are hosted at golf courses within each league conference. Schools are generally placed in a conference based on geographic location. Conference locations may include the Green Bay area, Fox Valley, Central Wisconsin, Milwaukee, and other regions as the league expands.
How does team scoring work?
Each team may have five players. The four lowest scores are added together to create the team score. The fifth score serves as the first team tiebreaker when needed. Individual top 3 at each tournament also earn awards.
Can players compete individually?
Individual participation may be available when a school does not have enough players to form a complete team.

What experience level is required?

Are beginners allowed?
Newer golfers may participate if they can safely play nine holes, follow instructions, and maintain an acceptable pace.
Players who have never played on a golf course should complete lessons, practices, or supervised on-course experience before entering league competition.

Are caddies allowed?
No. Players are expected to carry, push, or otherwise manage their own golf bags. Spectators may attend but may not serve as caddies, give continuous instruction, or interfere with competition.

Yes. Parents, school staff, and supporters are encouraged to attend. Spectators should remain a reasonable distance from players, avoid coaching during competition, and follow all course and league policies.
Can coaches help players during the round?
Each team may designate one approved coach. The coach must follow league guidelines and wear any required identification. Coaches may provide limited advice and encouragement. Other spectators and parents may not coach players during the round.
Who provides transportation?
Each school or family is responsible for arranging transportation to and from events. Elevate Golf does not provide team transportation.
Is golf equipment required?
Players must provide their own clubs, golf balls, tees, and appropriate golf attire. Schools may choose to create an equipment loan program or work with local golf courses, golf professionals, families, and community sponsors to help players who need equipment.
What happens if there is bad weather?
Events are generally played in rain unless course conditions become unsafe. Play will be suspended for lightning or other dangerous conditions. Elevate Golf and the host course will determine whether an event is delayed, shortened, rescheduled, or canceled. Families should not assume an event is canceled unless they receive official communication. For shortened play, a tournament will be considered complete when the players played 3 holes.
